At a 5G event held by a local carrier in Taiwan recently, HTC showed off a demo smartphone that will apparently be marketed as the HTC U12 (aka HTC Imagine), if a tweet from noted tech journalist and renowned leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) is anything to go by.Â

While HTC didn't reveal anything about the device, the fact that it hit download speeds of 809.58 Mbps, may suggest that it’s powered by the Snapdragon 845, which comes with an embedded X20 LTE modem that supports download speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps. The device was all covered up in casing, and HTC is playing its cards close to its chest, so there's not a lot to go by at this stage, but the one thing that was apparent was that it comes with a 2:1 display rather than adhere to the 16:9 form factor. Hopefully, there will be more info on the device in the coming days.Â
